ANA/APME’s Better Newspaper Contest

The Arizona Newspapers Association and the Arizona Associated Press Managing Editors Better Newspaper Contest featured three customers.

The San Pedro Valley News-Sun ( won many awards, including second place in the Newspaper Web Site category for under 35,000 circulation, along with several individual awards.

The Sierra Vista Herald ( placed first in the Newspaper Web Site category for under 25,000 circulation, as well as several other awards.

Also winning several awards was the Arizona Daily Sun (, placing second in the Newspaper Web Site category for under 25,000 circulation.

MPA’s Better Newspaper Contest

Congratulations are also in order for Houston Herald (, as they recently won first place in the Best Online Newspaper category for Web Site-Weeklies in the 2009 Missouri Press Association Better Newspaper Contest. The judge’s comment was “Good! Easy to navigate, clean, clear and crisp.”

Jeff McNiell, Web contact for the Houston Herald, had this to say about the award.

“We are extremely grateful and humbled to be recognized by the Missouri Press Association as having the top weekly newspaper Web site in the state for the second time in three years. We put a lot of time and effort into making it the best and most informational site it can be.”
